Evolve Talent are seeking a Leading Hand Carpenter to join an award-winning architectural builder in Sydney’s Inner West. This is the perfect opportunity for a skilled carpenter looking to transition off the tools into a leadership role. The position blends hands-on carpentry with leadership responsibilities, providing the experience and skills to progress toward a Site Supervisor role.
You will have:
- Trade qualification in Carpentry (Certificate III) and ideally completing or planning to complete a Certificate IV in Building & Construction
- Proven experience as a Carpenter, with Leading Hand or team leadership experience preferred
- Confidence in reading and interpreting architectural and structural drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong focus on safety, quality, and team mentoring
- A can-do attitude, reliability, and commitment to deadlines
- White Card and valid driver’s licence
- Ability to physically perform site tasks, including work at heights
Key responsibilities:
- Lead a small team on-site while continuing to perform hands-on carpentry
- Mentor and guide junior carpenters and apprentices
- Ensure work meets high-quality standards and complies with safety regulations
- Read, interpret, and implement architectural and structural plans
- Coordinate tasks and manage timelines to keep projects on schedule
- Ability to physically perform site tasks, work at heights, etc.
